Free Tickets Offered Through Theatre League’s Free Fest

More than 400 free tickets to theatrical productions across South Florida are being offered as part of the Summer Free Fest Night being sponsored as an audience building program by the South Florida Theatre League as part of  the WLRN Summer Theatre Fest.

To take advantage of the program, log on to the website summerfestfreenight.southfloridatheatre.com by the end of Sunday, July 8, and choose up to three productions you want to see. A lottery for those tickets will take place this Monday, July 9. Winners will be contacted by July 10.

Thirteen specific performances through Aug. 31 are being offered by Mad Cat Theatre Company, Lake Worth Playhouse, Sol Children Theatre, Entr’Acte Theatrix and The Plaza Theatre.

The Theatre Communication Groups’ Free Night of Theatre was originally introduced as a three city pilot-program in 2005, created to increase public awareness of the national theatre community, while in turn attracting new and non-traditional audiences to the theatre. During 2011’s Free Night of Theater over 400 participating organizations offered more than 55,000 tickets to over 1,800 performances in 19 states. Surveys showed more than a third of those patrons returned the following season to buy a ticket at that theater. The South Florida Theatre League’s version of the program began in 2008.
