Casting details for Dramaworks’ next season

Palm Beach Dramaworks has announced casting for the coming season, a mix of familiar local names and out-of-state ringers.

George Bernard Shaw’s Candida (Oct. 8- Nov. 21) stars Kim Cozort as a beautiful Victorian woman caught in a romantic triangle between her pastor husband and a young poet (John Leonard Thompson and Will Connolly). Cozort, who appeared dozens of times at the Caldwell Theatre before moving to North Carolina, has returned to live here. It also features John Felix, Cliff Burgess and Margery Lowe.

Freud’s Last Session (Dec.17- Feb. 6) stars local stalwart Dennis Creaghan as the psychoanalyst near the end of his life, debating the existence of God with writer C.S. Lewis, played by Chris Oden who triumphed as Nils Bohr in last winter’s Copenhagen.

Donald Margulies’ Dinner With Friends, (Feb. 25′ Apr. 17) features Erin Joy Schmidt, Jim Ballard, Eric Brown and Sarah Wilson as married couples who have been close friends for years, and what happens when one marriage falls apart.

In The Beauty Queen of Leenane by Martin McDonagh (May 6′ June 19), local favorite Barbara Bradshaw stars as the manipulative mother in the wilds of Ireland who interferes in her daughter’s only chance at love with a young man played by Kevin Kelly.

J. Barry Lewis will direct Candida and The Beauty Queen of Leenane, and Dramaworks producing artistic director William Hayes will stage Freud’s Last Session and Dinner with Friends.
