How many theater productions warn audience members that they may be sitting in a splatter zone?
Clearly, Evil Dead The Musical, which’opens Friday at the Promethean Theatre, ‘will never be mistaken for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Featuring zombies, demons, gore and a hero with a chain saw, this off-Broadway musical is based on Sam Raimi’s spoofy horror flicks — Evil Dead 1 and 2 and The Army of Darkness — all starring Bruce Campbell, who is’now appearing in Burn Notice.
Promethean is better known for thought-provoking contemporary plays, but it had a hit last year with Cannibal! the Musical, written by South Park’s Trey Parker. Promethean will produce the play through Sept. 12 at the Black Box Theatre at Nova Southeastern University.
