SoFla Theaters Begin Relaxing Covid Measures For Patrons

A sea of unmasked faces at FGO’s opening Saturday signaled South Florida theaters on the cusp of relaxing restrictions, some only for certain productions and some cautiously gingerly peering ahead to determine what to do.

Frozen Is A Successful Heart Warmer

No doubt most critics will try to weave in the title or lyrics of “Let It Go” in their reviews of the Broadway Across America production of the Disney’s Frozen at the Broward Center. Instead, we’ll just say “Go” to this charming, lovely production with strong acting and singing, energetic dancing and outstanding production values.

Welcome Back, Come From Away

It seems fitting that Broadway Across America marks its return to the Broward Centerwith the Tony and Olivier Award winning musical Come From Away that honors themes of community, perseverance, isolation and fear of the unknown. It seems that during last 18 months we’ve all come from away. And now we are back, a bit changed like the myriad characters in Come From Away, but happy to be back.

Broward & Arsht Centers to Require Proof of Negative COVID Test or Vaccination

The Broward Center in Fort Lauderdale and the Arsht Center in Miami will require all audience members to provide proof of a negative COVID test or proof of full vaccination to be admitted to events later this fall — the most extensive response to the pandemic by a South Florida theater or venue

Broadway Tours Set ’21-’22 Schedules For Broward & Nation

In a carefully calculated but hopeful sign of the recovering world of theater, Broadway Across America has scheduled the resumption this fall of its tours in 47 cities with full auditoriums and no social distancing, but with every other preventative measure. The announcement came with the new list of shows slated for the Broward Center beginning Nov. 3.

Audience In The Room Events Begin At Broward & Kravis

For arts fans looking for a bit of good news, the Kravis Center and the Broward Center are on track to be the first of the region’s large presenting houses to host a live event with an in-person audience inside one of its venues. They aren’t theater per se, but they mark a milestone in live presentations.

What South Florida Theater Will Look Like When It Reopens

As a handful of local venues gingerly tried to reopen in recent weeks and others prepare detailed plans for the future, a regimen of detailed protocols ranging from parking to popcorn to Playbills is emerging in documents that define what performing arts events in South Florida may look like for customers, artists, staff and vendors when theaters can reopen fully.
