Love Or Hate Wildhorn, Marquee’s Jekyll & Hyde Has Two Powerful Performances
Sometimes, as with Marquee Theater’s Jekyll & Hyde, the performances are so powerful that you forget the material isn’t worthy. Wildhorn’s pop-infused power ballad-addicted aesthetic divides fans. But there’s no ambivalence in this company’s enthusiasm and strong performances of Ben Sandomir in the title roles and, Alexandria Lugo as Lucy, the hooker-with-a-heart-of-gold and vocal-chords-of-steel.

With Bonnie & Clyde, Slow Burn Theatre Company has found the strengths in a “troubled” work and forged an entertaining even intermittently thrilling work. It keeps nudging upward the level of quality and polish without sacrificing a commitment to tackling edgy, difficult work that few would attempt.
Kravis’ Jekyll & Hyde Is More Rock n’ Roll Extravaganza Than Musical Theater
Road show producers have reconceived Frank Wildhorn’s legitimate musical Jekyll & Hyde into an all out American Idol rock ’n’roll extravaganza complete with supposedly Edwardian characters indulging in raging melisma and ear-splitting screeches. Nothing and no one in this production is moving or thought-provoking, but then that’s not the goal. And Maroulis isn’t half bad and Deborah Cox is terrific.
