Jodie Langel promises that audiences attending the inaugural production of South Florida’s newest theater company will be “blown away” by the young performers’ talent. Her Off Glades Theater Company, a nonprofit, non-professional company dedicated to developing young people in the performing arts, will offer the musical 13 on June 23 and 24 in Boca Raton.

Fight It If You Want, Mamma Mia! Still Indomitably Infectious

Mamma Mia! is another one of those Great Continental Divides in theater: you either love it – or you hate yourself for standing up and clapping along in the final mega-mix medley of infectious earwigs. As proven by Actors’ Playhouse’s full-out production, the damn thing can be a lot of good ol’ fun if you let yourself enjoy it.

Boca Theatre Guild’s Everyday Rapture Captivates Musically, Speck of a Story Less Appealing

Boca Raton Theatre Guild’s Everyday Rapture is bliss and it’s the reason to get yourself to the Willow Theatre. Jodie Langel, Ann Marie Olson and Leah Sessa possess some of the best voices you’ll hear in Florida musical theater. Yet no matter how hard they try to sell it, the work itself never really hits a peak.

If you know who Alice Ripley is, if you recognize the name of the musical Brooklyn, then [title of show] at Area Stage Co. was written for you. While its scruffy charm should amuse a general audience, this musical satire is theater geek heaven crammed t with humor rooted in Broadway inside baseball lore.
