UM Law School Presents Reading Of Proposition 8

Law schools are not the usual sponsors for theater, but the University of Miami School of Law is presenting Jan. 27  a staged-reading of “8,” a play chronicling the historic trial of the federal constitutional challenge to California’s Proposition 8, written by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black.

The cast is comprised of law school alumni and current faculty, staff, students, family, and friends. The production will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27 in Room E352 of the school at 1311 Miller Drive in Coral Gables. The seating is limited and logstics appear complicated so the school asks patrons to arrive by 6:45 p.m.

A reception and talkback session will be hosted after the production in the courtyard at the law school.

Ticket prices are $20 for non-students/$10 for UM students and staff in the main room.  A limited number of obstructed view tickets in the main room are available for $10 for non-students/$5 for UM students and staff.  Also, because of the limited number of seats available in the main room, the program will be simulcast in an additional classroom, with tickets available at a discounted rate of $10 for non-students/$5 for UM students and staff.   All prices include admission to the “talkback” session and reception following the production.

Tickets may be purchased directly online at http://www.savedade.org/content/outlaw-presents-8.  All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit SAVE Dade Inc. in its mission to help raise awareness about rights and protections for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities.
