Opening this month:

—-Aug. 4-21: The World Goes ‘Round from MNM Productions at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach // A revue of the music by Kander & Ebb (Chicago and Cabaret among many others). This is by the company that just produced Hair and Side by Side by Sondheim.
—-Aug. 4 – 20: Love! Valour! Compassion! at Andrews Living Arts in Fort Lauderdale /// Terrence McNally’s funny and touching look at eight gay men who come together over the three summer holiday weekends at the height of the AIDS crisis.
—-Aug. 4-2: Shorts Gone Wild 4 from City Theatre & Island City Stage in  Wilton Manors /// The annual collection of slightly risque playlets with an LGBT and Progressive bent, this time with the revealing mantra, “It’s Gonna be YUUUUUUUGE!”
—-Aug. 4-Sept. 4: Best of Micro from Microtheater Miami at Cultural Center of Spain in Miami /// A collection of short plays performed in Spanish and English.
—-Aug. 4-14: Tio Vania from Arca Images at Miami-
Dade County Auditorium // A Spanish translation with English subtitles of Anton Chekov’s Uncle Vanya, directed by Pulitzer Prize playwright Nilo Cruz.
—-Aug. 5: Plan 9 from Outer Space by Arts Radio Network/WLRN Theatre performing at Crest Theatre in Delray Beach /// A one-time live performance at 7:30 p.m. recreating what it was like to be in a radio studio as Ed Wood’s cult classic is performed on stage.
—-Aug. 5-21: A Midsummer Night’s Dream from Evening Star & Sol Children Theater in Boca Raton /// One of Shakespeare’s most popular plays about mismatched lovers, human and divine.
—-Aug. 12 – 21Juliet Among the Changelings from Lost Girls Theatre performing at the Main Street Playhouse in Miami Lakes. /// The inaugural full production from this company that has been mounting staged readings for a few years with a script by co-founder Andie Arthur.
—-Aug. 12-14: Neil Young’s On The Beach from Mad Cat Theatre at MTC in Miami Shores /// Another in Mad Cat’s special cross between a rock concert and theater.
—- Aug. 13: Rhinoceros by the Youth Artists Choir at Maltz Jupiter Theater /// A student production of Ionesco’s classic surrealistic satire about conformity.
—-Aug. 19-Sept. 4: It Had to Be You from KWP Productions at Bhetty Waldron Theater in West Palm Beach // A crazy comedy.
