Knight Foundation Announces Theater Grant Finalists

Several theater-related projects are among the 57 finalists for the 2012 Knight Arts Challenge grants for special projects in South Florida including start-up funds for a regional scene shop co-op and The Project [theatre], the fledgling company created by New World Theater School grads.

Immersion Theater At The Sandbox At The PlayGround

An unusual theatrical presentation, at least for South Florida, will encourage the audience to walk freely around the performers in The Conquest of the South Pole slated to be performed at The Sandbox, an offshoot of The PlayGround Theatre in Miami Shores, from May 31-June 2 and June 8-9.

Briefs: 1-Minute Play Festival, Alice at the PlayGround, Pino Plays the Roxy, +Harry Warren, AAPACT, Park Vista

You’ve heard of one-act play programs and ten-minute play, but now comes The First South Florida One-Minute Play Festival.

More than 40 playwrights with South Florida connections have written (or are still writing) these very brief exercises in dramaturgy for two benefit performances slated for 4:30 and 8 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Deering Estate, 16701 SW 72nd Ave. in Miami.
