We normally don’t publish audition notices, but this is an exception.
Polish up your pooch’s resume. Palm Beach Dramaworks is scouting for a well-behaved local dog to be featured in its production of Of Mice And Men.
The West Palm Beach theater is holding auditions for a dog who is easy-going on a leash and around groups of people. The role of “Candy’s dog,” an aging mutt cared for by an old broken down ranch hand, is a character part that requires a canine who looks older and stinky, but sweeter-smelling prospects are appreciated.
The play runs October 9 to November 10. Two dogs may be selected, but only one may perform.
To snag a shot at being a stage parent for a furry friend, email a photo or video to info@palmbeachdramaworks.org, and provide relevant information about the dog’s training background or other experience. The information needs to be submitted by 6 p.m. Saturday September 28.
The ideal dog is a mixed-breed, about 3 to 65 pounds. Both the animal actor and the owner need to be accessible for all shows and rehearsals — about eight weeks.
The show is presented by Palm Beach Dramaworks, 201 Clematis Street, (561) 514-4042, www.palmbeachdramaworks.org
