Wendy Wasserstein Programs At Palm Beach Dramaworks

Palm Beach Dramaworks’ current Master Playwrights Series ends in April with an examination of playwright Wendy Wasserstein and a reading of her masterwork,The Heidi Chronicles.

Since 2007, the ongoing series has selected three playwrights each year and illuminated their work with two related programs. The first is an overview of the playwright’s life and work, with scene readings by professional actors. The second is a staged reading of one of that playwright’s important plays. In addition to the readings, the audience is invited to discuss the work and themes.

The overview of Wasserstein will be held on April 1-2. The staged reading of The Heidi Chronicles will be April 8-9. This Pulitzer Prize-winning play follows the life of Heidi Holland from the 1960s through the 1980s, simultaneously tracing the changing role of women during those two decades.

Wasserstein is considered one of the leading playwrights of the 20th Century exploring feminist issues beginning with her groundbreaking play Uncommon Women And Others.

Individual tickets are $18 for each segment. Performances are at the Don & Ann Brown Theatre, 201 Clematis Street. For more information, call (561) 514-4042 or visit www.palmbeachdramaworks.org.
