During these turbulent divided times, it is delightfully refreshing to be transported back to a time of innocence and hope, when four boys from immigrant families could rise to fame and glory through hard work and perseverance. Such is the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, as colorfully depicted in Jersey Boys at the Actors’ Playhouse in Coral Gables.

Like the Jersey Boys Sang, ‘Oh, What A Night’ at the Maltz

Much of the audience at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre’s opening night of Jersey Boys was its traditional well-heeled well-coiffed crowd. But their increasingly unfettered applause, then cheers, then standing ovation while clapping to their music reflected a specific message. “Our time, our music, our youth mattered.”

Viewing the Maltz Jupiter Theatre’s Les Misérables is like watching an art restorer wipe away decades of obscuring grime from a canvas and savoring what you forgot was hidden underneath – even seeing colors you didn’t know were there. This edition eclipses the quality of almost every production the Maltz has mounted in a decade.
