Added Openings Nights, Dramaworks Hopes To Get Lucky, Blue Man Fills Miami Slot

Quick Hits

Two one-actor shows have been added to this month’s calendar in the last few days, one about noted Floridian Zora Neale Hurston and the other about Nazi hunter Simon Weisenthal.

Karen Stephens, who did acclaimed work as multiple characters in the one-woman show Bridge & Tunnel at various venues, is taking on just one character in Loquacious & Bodacious: The Life and Times of Zora Neale Hurston on Friday to Sunday at the Bhetty Waldron Theatre at the Actors Workshop & Repertory Co., 1009 North Dixie Highway in West Palm Beach.

Stephens, who just finished a run as the pragmatic mother in Doubt at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre, stars in the biographical play about the famed African American author whose works were a key facet of the Harlem Renaissance.

The show was conceived by the late Bhetty Waldron (who portrayed Zora for Actor’s Rep in 2002) in co-creation with actor/director/teacher Bob Carter.

Tickets can be purchased at www.boxofficetickets.com, www.actorsrep.org or by calling (561-833-7529.

And at the other end of the spectrum is Wiesenthal: The Conscience of the Holocaust from March 13-17 at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center, at 3385 NE 188 Street.

Veteran actor and playwright Tom Dugan recounts how, after cheating death at the hands of Hitler’s SS, Wiesenthal dedicated his life to tracking down and bringing to justice the greatest mass murderers in human history including Adolf Eichmann, Franz Stangl, Dr. Josef Mengele and the SS officer who imprisoned Anne Frank.
