Play Reading Series Kick Off At Plaza Theatre & Playgroup LLC

At The Plaza

The Plaza Theatre in Manalapan will inaugurate Fresh Pages, a series of staged readings of new and unpublished scripts, at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 29, with the new comedy Can I Really Date a Guy Who Wears a Yarmulke? by Amy Holson-Schwartz.

Director Kenneth Kay leads a cast that includes: Julie Kleiner, Jim Ballard, Gregg Weiner, Beth Dimon, Howard Elfman and Deborah Sherman.

The play is described in a news release as focusing “on Eleanor, a smart, savvy young woman whose secular brand of Judaism might include the occasional latke, but definitely does not include God. She meets Aaron, aka Dr. Right. He’s got the brains, the looks, the wit… But wait! He’s also got a serious case of religion. Can Eleanor see past his yarmulke to find love?”

Can I Really Date A Guy Who Wears A Yarmulke? premiered as part of the 2010 Midtown International Theatre Festival, at The Beckett at Theatre Row and winning the Producers Award.

Tickets are $10 and no reservations are required, however seating is on a first come, first served basis. The readings will take place at the theatre at 262 South Ocean Blvd. in the Plaza del Mar Shopping Plaza. For more information call (561) 588-1820 or visit www.theplazatheatre.net.
