Ronald Harwood’s script and Chicken Coop Theatre’s production of Taking Sides supposedly even-handed look at art and politics isn’t very subtle for most of the play, but it does have two solid performances and one crippling one.
The crucial test for whether a production of The Fantasticks truly succeeds, as Broward Stage Door’s does, is the last few minutes. If it’s been a little while since you saw the show live and yearn to try to remember, this will do very nicely.
Evening Star Production’s The Subject Was Roses underscores the insightful script, but the valiant effort leaves far too much crucial passion AWOL.
