Lightning Bolt’s Showcases Hair’s Best & Worst Tendencies

Hair is a weird show, and not because the characters are weird. To the contrary, the flower children of the Vietnam era, which it explores with both affection and criticism, have arguably aged more into the mainstream after decades of the liberalization of sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll, and new age spirituality. Hair is strange because of the shambolic structure , as neither a fully sung-through musical nor a traditional, book-driven story.

Lightning Bolt Returns Again To Little Shop & Audrey II Too

Lightning Bolt Productions,’ Little Shop of Horrors delivers yet another merry recreation of one of the most amusing small musicals in the canon: an intentionally silly, unapologetically unsubtle hoot. If you haven’t seen in it in a while or, hard to believe, haven’t seen it at all, Lightning Bolt’s ebullient edition is a perfect reason to visit or re-visit Skid Row.

Lightning Bolt’s Into The Woods Gives Modern Resonance

Into the Woods’ disturbing second act occurs in a boy’s nightmare in Lightning Bolt Production’s riveting, pulse-quickening production at the West Boca Performing Arts Center. Director Jessie Hoffman has re-imagined the musical from the narrator’s perspective. That character, who in this production is a 12-year-old boy, plays a larger role than in other mountings.
