Despite Fine Moments, Guys and Dolls Doesn’t Quite Land

Despite being one of the greatest musicals of all time, Guys and Dolls always poses a difficult make-or-break challenge that determines if a production is mildly entertaining or sublime. So, MNM Theatre Company, which has given us some terrific evenings, delivers some fine individual moments here and there, but they never find that elusive groove.

Carbonells Agree To Diversity Overhaul; Cancels Eligibility Of Shows Through Year’s End

Strong wide-ranging criticism has prompted the Carbonell Awards to begin systemic changes connected to diversity. It also will not consider upcoming productions through early 2021 due to the pandemic. Also three more theaters have left the program.

MNM’s Grease Struts Its Stuff When The Music Starts

If you hire strong voices as they did in MNM Theatre Company’s production, the venerable musical Grease cannot help but be entertaining with its elbow-nudging pastiche of faux late ‘50s-early ‘60s rock n’ roll. The challenge in which MNM doesn’t prevail is finding the difficult to locate tone for the script scenes because Grease is not simply a straight ahead comedy as it’s played here.
