Outre’s Nightmarish ‘Back Of The Throat’ Exposes How Post 9/11 Paranoia Allows Abuses

The temptation is to describe the nightmarish Back of the Throat as Kafkaesque as Outré Theatre Company depicts an America gone mad. But it’s not. That’s the real horror. The extremities unfolding before the audience are a logical if artistically exaggerated extrapolation of the paranoia and xenophobia unleashed against Arab-Americans after 9/11. It’s naturalism not surrealism.

Repost: 24-Hour Theatre Project Oct. 27 To Support Dana Castellano

The Naked Stage’s annual 24-Hour Theatre Project is scheduled for 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, hosted this year by Palm Beach Dramaworks in West Palm Beach. All proceeds will go directly to Dana Castellano — a longtime supporter of the entire South Florida theatre community — to help cover medical costs as she battles cervical cancer.

Slow Burn Takes A Chance on Resurrecting Carrie The Musical

They know. It seems beyond hubris for Slow Burn Theatre to mount a musical whose debut has become a catchphrase for famous flops, as in “Not since Carrie has there been such a theatrical disaster.” But they think the reworked piece has virtues worth saving.
