Zoetic Stage’s Funny, Poignant All New People By Zach Braff Scores As One Of Season’s Best

South Florida theater critics have to kiss a lot of comedy frogs before they find a prince, so we’re exhilarated when we discover one as magical as Zoetic Stage’s hilarious and touching All New People. What Zoetic Artistic Director Stuart Meltzer and his quartet of actors do with Zach Braff’s material is masterful in comic timing, narrative pacing, inhabiting characters, line readings, excavating meaning, variety of tone yet unity of approach, you name it.

Silver Palms & Theatre League Remy Recipients Announced

Eighteen Silver Palm Awards honoring theatrical excellence in South Florida during the 2011-2012 season will be presented Dec. 3, as well as two Remy Awards from the South Florida Theatre League.

Zoetic Stage Renders Beautiful Portrait Of I Am My Own Wife

I Am My Own Wife is so fascinating and on so many levels that long after actor Tom Wahl ascends the short staircase and exits through the double doors at the end of the one-person play, there’s still much to ponder. Zoetic Stage’s production of Doug Wright’s fascinating character study of Charlotte von Mahlsdorf, a transvestite who survived the Nazis and Communists in East Berlin, honors this mesmerizing one-person play by treating it as gently as the antiques that we watch von Mahlsdorf caress and cuddle like fragile babies.

Who’s Playing Who This Season?

Regular South Florida theatergoers will recognize many local stalwarts headlining productions this fall as well as some folks new to these parts – and their parts. Palm Beach Dramaworks revealed much of its casting for the entire season this week, featuring the boldface name of Tony Award nominee and part-time local resident Maureen Anderman in December.

Arsht Bonds with Zoetic, House, U of Miami & Alliance For Theater Up Close Next Season

Theater Up Close, the series co-produced by the Arsht Center, has announced a 2012-2013 season partnering with the home-grown Zoetic Stage, the University of Miami’s theater department, the House Theatre of Chicago and, for the first time, the Alliance Theatre Lab of Miami Lakes.
